Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Proposes 5G for Rural America 

Federal Communications Commission adopted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on establishing the 5G Fund for Rural America.  As part of Phase I, the proposed 5G Fund budget also includes $680 million reserved to support 5G networks serving Tribal lands. Link

National Center for Education Statistics released the 2018 National Assessment of Educational Progress U.S. History, Geography, and Civics Report Cards at Grade 8.

EDA Grants to Support Broadband in Six NY Counties, Economic Recovery for Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes in Oklahoma, Butte County (CA) Economic Recovery, and New York TA to Relocating Firms.

$700,000 grant to the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes in Concho, Oklahoma, to advance long-term economic recovery and resilience planning efforts following the 2018 wildfires. The EDA grant will be matched with $307,604 in local investment. Link

 

ETA Presents “WIOA Youth Program COVID-19 Session"on May 4 Webinar:  Invites Prospective Attendees to Raise Questions, Share Resources and Best Practices by April 28

During this event, Division of Youth Services  will have an opportunity to answer questions, share resources, and pass along best practices submitted in advance.

The National League of Cities and Bloomberg Philanthropies have teamed up to collect and share actions taken by local leaders in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

The goal is to ensure mayors, city leaders, and other local decision makers have the information they need to lead their communities through this crisis.  In the coming weeks, a more robust mechanism will be developed for local government leaders to share actions enacted in their own communities. Census Bureau Launches COVID-19 Data Hub 

U.S. Census Bureau released a new resource page on Census.gov to help federal agencies, businesses, and communities make decisions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  A new interactive data hub centralizes already-released data from the American Community Survey and the County Business Patterns program to facilitate users’ access to data useful in pandemic-related decision making. Released as a beta version, the hub will be updated periodically as the situation changes and as feedback is received from users. Learn More
